hihat settings trouble

Hey guys, thanks for all your help so far and I have a new question I'm having trouble with. I have all of my settings just about nailed but I'm having an interesting problem with my hihat pedal. I'm using the Yamaha dtx hihat controller and I made a crossover cable and it seems to be working but when I watch the velocity values I get i noticed that it moves smoothly from full closed (0) up to partial open (36) then jumps to full open (127). When coming closed it jumps from full open (127) back down to partial open (36) then smoothly progresses down to full closed. Does any open know what settings might effect this in this way? I have tried to adjust the threshold and hilvl but those don't change it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd recommend you to try one of Log Curves for HiHat pedal or create a completely custom Curve. With a curve you basically correct any non-linearity of input signal - in this case of the pedal position signal level.
