I was playing with my car radio yesterday and the thought cross my mind of what a great interface it would be for the MegaDrum. Basically it works like this... the button flips throught the menus and the knob controll the levels.

I was thinking about using a using this encoder:

My question is can I wire the monentary button of the encoder to "UP" keyboard and use the encoder to controll left / right?

Looking at the data sheet can I wire D - 1 and E-4 on CONN_4 for keyboard up and encoder A-1, B-2, C-3 on CONN_5 for Left / Right???

Actually you can do it already. If you use a rotary encoder with a built-in button, you can combine rotary Up/Down control with button Right control. This is how it was done in a module I built. See viewtopic.php?f=3&t=166&start=10

Maybe I am confused about the button. I just want ONE push button encoder encoder. the button to flip between screens and the knob to controll levels.

Why did you go with 2 and buttons?

Don't the Up/Down encoder and the built-in button do exactly that?

Just so their was a choice:)
