megadrum / addictive drums 2 - sound stops after a while

Postby Tatoupulus » Fri Jul 10, 2015 9:34 am

Hi all,

I use Addictive Drums 2 with the ARM Megadrum (latest firmware) on a Win 8.1 PC. I can play most of the time without probs, but sometimes addictive drums stops working. The Megadrum is still delivering midi-signals (I think, because the LED-Display is showing action). I have to go to properties in AD2 and uncheck and check again the midiinput (i.e. the Megadrum).
After that all is working fine again. At home this is not a prob - but I don't want it to happen in a live performance...
I never had this with my Roland-module.

So is that a problem of the Megadrum or of AD2? Today I had this 2 times with the Megadrum Manager open. Don't exactly know, if it occurred before without the MM.

Any suggestions appreciated!

I can only suspect that there is a problem with a USB cable which causes USB re-connection. Do you hear Windows USB reconnection sound when it happens? Can you try with a different USB cable?
Also, try to run it without MDM. Does it happen without MDM?

Hi Dmitri,

I will try it without MDM. Maybe you are right and it's the usb-cable, but I didn't hear a "windowssound" for reconnecting. But the cable is extended with a 5m cable.
I read somewhere that long usb-cables could cause problems with the megadrum.

I will try and post after that.

Kind regards

You could use Manager with Gervil output or install Reaper and use that instead of AD2 to rule out the software - definitely sounds like the length (or quality) of the USB cable causing the issue.

Hi!

If it was a MDM problem please check that you use for an example AD2 on MD port 1 and MDM on MD port 2 (check the same input/output port in MDM)

This will enable you to run AD2/MDM at the same time. Most often on stage you don't need to have MDM running. (All config should have been done at that stage...)

Sometime when strange things happens ... In my setup...it is the ASIO driver which have been the problem. (I am running an old 8 channel sound card) Increase the buffer size and see if the problems persist.

Best regards
