What is the best way of setting up a hall sensor hihat? I wired everything to my A1302 hall sensor, but now I need to configure it.
http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2082 does seem to comply only to Roland controllers/hihat like VH11/12.

So, what is the step-by-step way of doing this? And, where should I specifically look at or get a close look at?

What is your problem with the pedal?

Well, my problem is that my A1302 isn't responding to my magnet atm. I *suspect* my wiring is wrong, although I _was_ pretty confident I did wire it up correctly.

A1302 (top view, connector legs 1-3 from left to right):
1 => Tip
2 => Sleeve
3 => Ring

Could you please tell me if that is the correct wiring?

I don't have hall sensors so I don't know what correct wiring is. With correct wiring voltage on the tip should change according to pedal (magnet) position.

Same difference - either swap tip and ring or pins 1 and 3

I just swapped tip and ring... Nothing is happening, neither at Hi impedance & Alt input on, or Low impedance & Alt input off.

The only difference between Hi impedance and low impedance, is that @ low impedance the hihat is closed. At high impedance the hihat seems open according to Midi Log hihat graphic At MDM.

Here is a diagram of the new wiring:


Pin 1 => Ring (red)
Pin 2 => Sleeve (black)
Pin 3 => Tip (yellow)

According to the schematics here, the 5v (Vcc) from the MD board goes to the ring and the pedal signal goes back to the board from the tip, which corresponds to this last wiring. If it's not working, all I can think of is that either the sensor is faulty, the magnet is too weak (what magnet are you using?), there's a disconnect/short somewhere or there is a wiring mistake.
