Issue: trigerring double-notes with one hit

Hello everybody,

Me and my band are new to the Megadrums-Universe and stuck with the following problem:

We keep getting those triggered „double notes“ (can't upload a picture from my Smartphone -.- we hit the drum once and cubase „sees“ two notes). Megadrum only shows one MIDI-output (round about 500 ms each).

Which setting will kill those artifacts?

Greets from Germany :)

Another „problem“: Latency seems kind of huge (if its send by midi-out, usb-out makes no problem), is there a setting?
Thanks for your support!

MegaDrum provides two USB MIDI ports. You need to configure Cubes to use only one of these ports. The other MegaDrum port you can use with MegaDrum Manager to configure MegaDrum.

Are you using ASIO2 drivers in Cubase for audio output?

We're using this Setup:

Megadrum Midi-out to RME Fireface (Interface) to Cubase.
So Cubase just gets the Midi notes. RME driver Set to 64 Samples.
We've tried the same Setup with a cheap Millenium Module instead of Megadrum, with nearly no latency (low enough our drummer didn't recognize it).

With megadrum there is latency and double notes by midi-out.

Hope there is a solution :)

we are using a RME Fireface 800 and a MacBookPro (so no ASIO). There are also other channels running trough cubase (from RME) so MegaDrum isn't connected with Cubase, it is only sending MIDI signals to the RME. Is that perhaps a problem?

We also tested a cheap Millenium Module with the same trigger system (Drum-Tec Pro Snare for example), no latency issues. So its not the trigger or the interface/Cubase.. I hope there is a setting in MegaDrum :)

And concerning the double triggers, I will post a photo.. The midi input signal is split in two parts and addictive drums plays the snare twice (very fast).. With Megadrum Setting influences this?

Perhaps we need to connect megadrum directly to cubase? Is there a difference in "connect megadrum per MIDI out to RME" and "connect megadrum per USB to computer/DAW"?

At the moment megadrum is connect per USB to run MD-Manager, in options MidiIn/Out we selected "MegaDrum MIDI Out Slot 1".. Then MD-Manager recognized the firmware and the connected Megadrum itself.
MIDI Out of MegaDrum is connected to MIDI In of the RME.. Files come in and are fed by a VST Instrument..

Additonally I think that the "splitting" of the 1 MIDI In signal is perhaps the reason for the latency because the ear recognizes the second triggered sound which is a little too late (see picture of my post before)...

Thanks for your help, highly appreciated!! :)

I guess by default Cubase uses all available MIDI ports for MIDI In. If there is no way to configure Cubase to listen only on specific MIDI Ports for MIDI In then you can configure MegaDrum to use Port 2 only for SysSex. In this way you configure MDM to use Port 2 for MegaDrum configuration and MegaDrum will send MIDI Notes only to Port 1. As a result Cubase will see MIDI data from MegaDrum only from one port even if it listens on all ports.

I had this problem and I think it came from using the midi out rather than usb. Your latenct has nothing to do with MD.

Ok, thanks for your comments and hints :)
Of course the problem was cubase  .. as you mentioned: it listened trough all inputs and therefore listened to USB and MIDI (1+2).

Now I only connect MegaDrum per USB to the MacBook/Cubase - everything is fine.

For the long-term (live) I would prefer to connect MegaDrum only per MIDI to my RME (MIDI In) (and not connecting it to the Macbook per USB) - can I use a normal "iPhone-type" 5V power-supply for MegaDrum's USB?
