Advice on settings for FSR onHEAD/inHEAD

Postby AndyB » Thu Jun 30, 2016 4:48 pm

Hi, all. I have recently purchased 4 onheads for toms and 2 in-heads for snares. I find that they seem to be super hot even with the gain set at one. Does anyone have experience with the settings on these? I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks

Where are you setting the gain, in the inbox or the module? What are your settings for that pad? What procedure did you follow to set it up?
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

Is this the Aquarian? I've been hoping for someone to test drive FSRs.
Tell me Andy, How big is the FSR area? It looks tiny on the video.

I was referring to the gain on the module. I had to quickly unplug them and plug them into my dtx900 i had a impromptu band rehearsal so I had to switch quickly..as it was way to hot ..i can't remember the settings I used but it was based off of a Roland Tom. I am going to try to go back to my rehearsal room tomorrow and tweak and maybe take photos..i don't have internet access there so I will get as much info as I can. Air..the surface seems to be right to the edge..i had no issues with the DTX900 ..but the signal was still hot to me..even with the inbox volume down. I will let you know more tomorrow. The InHEAD was just like playing a regular old snare..super cool but loud as heck. Even with it dampened. But I may have a solution tomorrow. I have an extra 14 On-head in case.

So I turned the gain on the inbox to a very low setting..it does turn off but a slight movement puts it almost to what I'd deem as full. So in the mdm I lowered the threshold and raised it..nothing seems to make it take all the hits and sensitivity is really not there. Any suggestions? If I can't get some headway I'll post some pics in a while.

So, I've spent many hours trying to configure Megadrum. Even the FSR heads work but no where near where I need them to feel. So I gave up on the Megadrum. I tore apart my whole rig. Rewired it back to the DTX900 and voilà the FSR heads rock...they are off the chart good. Even the InHEAD snare. Perfect. Only thing was the rimshot trigger was working independently and now I have to lay it on the snare and hit it into of the snare to make it work. Gotta figure that one out. I think I am going to just pull the megadrum out of my rack and take it home..maybe work on it there. I've spent way too much time trying to get it to feel like my dtx900 and it just doesn't. No matter how long I spend on it. I realize you have to spend time with the module to get it to work properly but I've spent so much time trying to figure it out and I've got gigs and stuff..it could take me months to figure this thing out the way I need it to work. Which sucks cuz I love the idea of it..the extra inputs, & the rackmount ability. I've tried so much of what has been posted here and have gotten somethings close but I have gigs and other things going on so no time.one final note..the midi bogged up after I was playing a asnare kick groove..it would take a minute for the snare hit and a kick to be head once I did a Triplett on the stock.this product just needs a lot more tweaking than I have time for.

Are you trying to trigger a VST or the sounds from the Yamaha?

A VST..Superior Drummer 2. All works perfectly except the rimshot trigger with the dtx900. I could get it to work marginally with the MD but not like it did with the DTX900..I'm sure I'll get it I like a year but I don't have a year.
