baffled configuring high hat

Postby marcusHere » Fri Mar 03, 2017 3:21 pm

I've managed to set up the kick, snare, toms and cymbals more or less with the megadrum manager but I'm baffled by the high hat setup. The next two images show the MIDI numbers in Addictive Drums and the screen I'm seeing in the megadrum. It seems I've got 12 values showing in Addictive Drums but only 2 places to enter note values in the Megadrum Manager.
Any help greatly appreciated.

In MDM go to HiHat Pedal->Notes. Also see HiHat Pedal->BowSO/EdgeSO/BellSO, HiHat Pedal->BowHO/EdgeHO/BellHO, HiHat Pedal->BowSCL/EdgeSCL/BellSCL, HiHat Pedal->BowCL/EdgeCL/BellCL, HiHat Pedal->Chick and HiHat Pedal->Splsh in http://www.megadrum.info/content/hihat-pedal-settings

Silly me. It was right in front of my face. Sorry about that. Dimitri, the megadrum you built for me was to be used with a GoEdrum high hat controller :
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goedrum-GH6-13 ... B00UBGLKTI , so you added a pull-up resistor on the HiHat input. Does that mean I would choose 'pot' as the high hat pedal type?

It depends on if you are using MIDI CC messages for pedal positions. If you are not then you can set it to Pot. The pull up resistor doesn't matter for selecting Foot Controller or Pot.

Is it better to use MIDI CC messages ? I can see in addictive drums that it 'knows' the position of my pedal. How would the way I confgure the megadrum be different if I use CC messages ? Would it mean I don't enter all the note values ?
Also, my high hat cymbal is a roland CY-5, which I think is just bow and edge - no bell. I suppose I just leave zeros for the bell notes, right ?

It is better to use MIDI CC messages for pedal positions if the soft synth supports it. In this case you have to set all bow/edge/bell Notes in the HiHat Pedal config equal to the Notes of the HiHat bow/edge/bell.
