Latency when pressing my hi hat pedal

When I press on my hi hat pedal, there is about a 1 second delay before I start to hear the correct note (closed hi hat). Any ideas on how to remove the latency?

What do you hear instead of a closed note?

I continue to hear the open hi hat sound, there's just a bit of a delay before it transitions to the closed hat sound.

What do you bean by "transitions to the closed hat sound"?

In playing around with this a bit more, I see the problem. When I press on my high hat pedal it has no effect until i hit the hi hat again. In other words, when I hit my hi hat while my pedal is wide open, I hear the open hi hat sound as expected. When I press the pedal all the way closed, I continue to hear the open hi hat decay whereas I would expect it to stop. It does stop however after I hit the hi hat again when the pedal is closed. So it seems my problem is that closing the hi hat pedal doesn't stop the decay of the open hi hat sound as a real accoustic hi hat would do. How do i fix that? Is this a problem with my audio software? I'm using BFD3 and i have all hi hat notes configured for the variable hi hat note in BFD.

It is indeed about how you configure your soft synth if you want the open sound to stop while you're closing the HiHat without doing a chick. MegaDrum is sending all required MIDI for that.

Many thanks Dmitri! Sure enough that did solve my problem. Posting a screenshot in case anyone else runs into this, hope this is helpful for others using bfd 3. I needed to enable the "Auto Pedal Event" option in BFD3.
