Newbie questions and 3 zone snare pad

Postby danubilo » Mon Sep 18, 2017 3:11 pm

Hello good people from this Forum. I am writing this post after searching for a couple days some answers to my questions, but i did not find the information that i was looking fof. I Hope some of you may read this and help me a little bit.

I was talking with dmitri to purchase an ATMEGA MCU from him, wich is an atmega 644.
so, first question:
1) The DIY version of megadrums, wich is listed to use atmega 32, would work totally fine with armega 644, and last firmware update would work just fine with the DIY board, including a regular 16x2 LCD Screen ( i won't need to buy a 2.2" or 2.4" LCD screen with the last update, am i right?

My second question is about 3 zone snare drums. In the megadrum features, it says that it works with this kind of pads. I got a dual piezo snare drum. I need to make any kind of mod to my snare to be able to use it as a 3 way snare? to use open hit, rim and rimshot? or do the megadrum, when senses both piezo at the same time, shots a different midi note, different than rim and open hit alone?

I got a 3 way yamaha style ride, wich have one piezo and 2 switches, i know that thing about the 10k resistor, but i do not know if it is the same for snare drum or not.

Thanks everybody!

Hi,

1) Correct. In fact it will only work with a 16x2 LCD and not with any of the newer colour screens.

2) With dual piezo/piezo pads, it sends a 3rd note when you hit rim and head at the same time. It requires some calibration but works very well.

If your cymbal has the 10k resistor on one of the switches it should work as a 3-zone. Megadrum can be made to work with piezo/piezo, piezo/switch and piezo/switch/switch pads.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

Great!. this sounds good.

I already got a chinese edrum that works quite well, but it lackssome good features like continuous CC4 hi hat pedal, 3 zone snare drum, and the bell works kind of strange sometimes.
I think that, with megadrums, the functionality of the drums will improve a lot!.
Thanks for the support! :D
