Millenium ride pad

Postby system32 » Sat Sep 30, 2017 5:02 pm

Dear Dimitri!

I have succesfully configured the new alesis hi-hat pad that I've got, but I have also bought some millenium e-cymbals lately.
I have managed to configure them as a crashes with choke, but I'm struggling with the one for the ride.

The cymbal has a stereo jack connector where:
-the TIP is the + from the trigger,
-the ring is the one side of the switch for the bell (there is no second trigger, there is a switch for the bell under the rubber)
-GND on the sleeve.

THe choke switch on the edge bridges to the GND. (I think that I don't need a choke on a ride).

Could you please help me configure this properly on the MDmanager, so when the bell switch is activated, there is no note from the trigger? How best can I accomplish that?

Thanks in advance,
BR

Hey,

it seems like the bel switch needs to be "modded" physically, I have put some straps between the top rubber and the switch and now it's reacting with more sensitivity - I guess i just need to play with that a little.

I got the exact same Ride E-Cymbal. It has 1 piezo and 2 switches. the edge switch puts a 1k resistance betwen ring and ground, the bell switchs puts a 10k resistance between ring and ground.

I follow those steps but i'm not able to make the bell sound, i got the edge and bow but no bell.

Did somebody got this working?

This exact ride pad.

after some tweeking, i got this working fine.

Is not 100% accurate because the bell needs to be hit a little harder than the bow to trigger the Bnote.
When hitting the bell softly, it triggers the regular Ride Bow and not the bell, but i guess it is because of the piezo/switch/switch kind of ride.
Maybe a roland kind 3 ways ride pad would work better.

Anyway, as it is, is very usefull. maybe i need a little more tweaking, but is working very fine!!!

I'm more than exited with my recently buildt megadrum

Bell triggering for soft hits on most cymbals types is not perfect - this is due to the switch in the bell not 'making' on soft hits. Some people were able to improve it by mechanically modifying/tweaking/fixing the bell switch.

ok, is good to know.
Anyway, it works preety well.
Maybe i can do a DIY sensor or mod the sensor that there is in some way.

Maybe i will make this kind of mod also on the Hi Hat to have Bell there too.

This forum is very helpfull! I will do a video review on my megadrum soon, i will post it on this forum as soon as i got it up on youtube
