I had Dmitri build me an MD, but never made it work? Would be cool if I could come by, and we could run through my MD and make sure that it works like it should!?

Please get in contact with me (email me) - desperate to get this thing up and running!!!

Very best regards from Reno

Even from London, I'm pretty sure it's working. What seems to be the issue?

Thanks for getting back to me!!!

Been messing around with the MD for some time now, and been trying to put together a video that shows what the problem is - might be a bit confusing, and the problems I`m having aren`t really consistent. But hope the video can make things a bit more clear on what`s going on!!??

Thanks a lot for your time!!

Hi,

You need to set the rim 'type' to 'switch', and set the right threshold value for it by starting at 0 and raising it 1 by 1 while pressing the edge switch until the midi light flashes (and stops flashing when you release it) and it sends aftertouch messages when pressed. Also, set the highlevels properly, by leaving 'highlevel auto' ticked, banging the pad hard a few times and then unticking it. I don't know why the pad misses hits on the bow but I'd say it's a physical issue with the pad. I think Yamaha pads have a trimpot somewhere, maybe you can try opening it more.

Thanks a lot Ignotus!!

Tried fooling around with what you suggested, both with the trimpot on the Yamaha cymbal, the switch setting, the threshold on the third zone!

On top of that I can´t seem to get it to register the choke funktion on the rim no matter the threshold value of the third zone!...

Forget about the 3rd zone for now - that's for the bell. Raise the threshold for the rim slowly, 1 by 1, while holding the edge switch closed. There should be a value where you get those grey bars in MDM (they're the aftertouch messages you're looking for), but they should stop when you release the switch - you should get one message when you press it and another when you release it. There's normally a narrow range of values where this happens so go slowly until you find it. When you have it, it should choke when you grab the cymbal and play the rim note when you hit it.

Opening the trimpot should make the pad's bow piezo more sensitive to soft hits, nothing to do with the edge, which is a switch. Also, set your high levels before you do anything else.

Thanks a lot ignotus!!

Haven´t made it work flawless just yet, but made a major step towards success due to your instructions!!

Cheers

I´ve installed Protools and Superior drummer, And I´ve fiddled around with pretty much all the settings, tried tightening the drumhead to have more mechanical vibrations from all over the drumhead to transfer directly to the trigger, lowering the cone to have to lessen the compression of the cone. Nothing really seems to work....

Any ideas, anyone??
