Megadrum sysex doubts..

Postby elrules » Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:10 pm

I have been reading the menu_layout pdf. I have some doubts about sysex sending. When you want to send the sysex of only one input, do you directle send the sysex message with data? or do you have to first send a sysex request and then the sysex data? What does the "Request to save config in eeprom" message do?

As I understand, the messages listed in "MEgadrum can receive:" are only the requests to read configs from megadrum, and "Megadrum can send:" are the responses it makes for those request.

Then, if you want to write your config from PC to megadrum, am I supponsing well that you simply send messages with the same format that which appear in "MEgadrum can send" without any previous communication?

If you just need make changes to the input, you don't need to send to a 'sysex request' first. You only need to send a 'sysex request' if you want to get the current settings on MegaDrum.

What does the "Request to save config in eeprom" message do?

It tells MegaDrum to save the current config in slot 1 of EEPROM (local persistent MegaDrum memory)

As I understand, the messages listed in "MEgadrum can receive:" are only the requests to read configs from megadrum, and "Megadrum can send:" are the responses it makes for those request.

Almost correct: you can also manually send all sysex configuration settings from the MegaDrum menu.

Correct.

Last doubt. Is "Note off delay" at the moment the only parameter sent in the misc config?
