Firmware version unchanged after completing upgrade

I just ran the firmware update and found that the version that's displayed in mdmfx is the old version. The version I am trying to upgrade to is 20180121, the version that's reported by mdmfx following a firmware update is 20171221.

Are you sure you chose the right firmware file when doing the upgrade?

Upgrading megadrum manager fixed this problem.
