Has anyone actually successfully built a working V2.5 board?

Postby gastric » Sun Nov 09, 2008 12:31 am

I'm curious if anyone has actually successfully constructed a V2.5 board from scratch? Buying all components, constructing the board, constructing ICSP programming cables, programming ICs, and ending up with a fully functional and usable MegaDrum? Browsing the various posts I only see users buying the V2.7 kit. And recently me and Japi and Bobnickelson building a V2.5 board, though neither of us has met with success yet as far as I know.

Note I'm not knocking this project, the V2.5 board, or anything. I'm just fishing for someone confirming this thing actually works and is buildable using the V2.5 board. :) Show me ONE PERSON that's done it successfully so I have hope that someday mine will be as well. :D

I successfully built the 2.5 unit the way you say, buying components in my local shops, etching the board and drilling it, and so on.

<- Here you can see my finished unit.

I was surprised that the hardware was perfectly built at first try. I had some firmware issues but I managed to solve them, so now I have a very good working unit made from scratch ;)

And you programmed the IC yourself using ISCP cables? I'm having no luck as you can see in this thread:

I programmed a bootloader (with clock selector). I had some difficulties. I had to program it several times till I got a well-programmed firmware...

I confirm here (you already knew hehe) that my v2.5 works.

Here's what I tried so far

lcd works (backlit worked after changing the 470 ohm + resistor for a 33 ohm one)
icsp header for atmega works
32 pads connector works
trimpot works
buttons works

Didn't try yet:

midi connector, i won't ever use it
led, i will connect it to the case
icsp for usb, already flashed so no use

8-)
