a few quick questions?

Postby atomburst » Mon Mar 02, 2009 5:59 am

ok so i have noticed a few new things with megadrumbut i am a bit confused about some things. can anyone shed some light on these things please?

like how you can add a new digital board for more inputs, i was wondering where you connect that board to and what you do to get the other inputs.

as an idea i was wondering if it would be possible to connect to all in one pcb's together so they work together kinda like a dual core processor for a computer? that way you could have 64 inputs but only using 1 usb port. i dunno if that would be possible but it would be cool if you could.

also im not quite sure how to update the firmware version on my megadrum? i have downlaoded the folder of the latest firmware but what do i then do with it?

last question, is there anywhere i can buy the input boards both board top and bottom? and if i buy them am i right in thinking that because i have bought the all in one pcb the jacks the lcd screen the buttons the midi in/out and the ribbon cable that i am all ready to go?

As for your first question, yes you can chain MegaDrum units together through the MIDI ports. Plug your first MegaDrum into your computer via USB, then plug the "MIDI OUT" from the second MegaDrum into the "MIDI IN" of the first MegaDrum. Two MegaDrum units, one USB input.

For the second question, you either need to build a cable to program the Atmega chip or you need to download and use the MegaDrum Config Tool, which can update the firmware over MIDI (which means USB as well as the physical MIDI ports).

For the third question, you'll need a case too. Not sure if anyone is "selling" analog boards, though.

Unless i'm missunderstanding the question, the schematic should answer your question.

Yes chain with Midi, If you planning on having the two chips in the same enclosure, just wire the midi out from the daughter board to the midi in on the main board and connect the ground. Having two seperate MD's might be more versatile though.

Perhaps a member on the forums could do it.

You need a case for it all. USB cable. An electronic Drum kit is also helpful ;) .

P.S. How was my imitation of Dmitri?
