is there anyway to implement a headphone jack

just wondering if it is possible to put a headphone jack in the megadrum module? i know megadrum doesnt create sounds itself, but for those like me who are connecting this to a desktop computer it would be easier to plug it into the module rather than use cable extensions to allow your headphones to actually reach all the way to your kit?

Wether the extension ends in a socket in your module or on the floor is just a matter of preference. No matter how you look at it, you still need to extent the sound from the source to your headset.

no i meant like instead of having any cables at all apart from the usb cable or the midi (whichever you are using) you could have a relay in the usb to send the audio back through and into a headphone jack mounted at the megadrum module?

Midi does not carry audio data, so this would not work. I do not know how much bandwidth is left on the USB, but in its current implementation this is not possible.

Why not just mount a USB sound card and a small USB hub inside the same enclosure as the MegaDrum PCB that way you would only have one USB cable going from "megaDrum" enclosure to the PCB. No modification to MegaDrum design what so ever.

I have no idea if drivers for average USB sound card could be low latency and suitable for the job but seems like its worth investigating.

It might have a bit more lag than an internal card, but that seems like it might work. I'm sure there is at least one or two cards fast enough.

Why not just make a multi-lead cable that contains 1 usb cable and 1 stereo headphone cable? Then just attach headphone in and out jacks on your Megadrum box (putting the headphone input somewhere near the USB output and the output jack wherever you want) and wire them together internally. You could use "off the shelf" usb and audio cables of the same length and wrap them with something like this:

Or you could have someone like these guys make a custom cable for you:

redco.com

Then just plug one end into your computer's USB and soundcard or headphone jack and the other end into your megadrum's usb and headphone input (which you just added).

I know it's not technically 1 cable but it accomplishes what you're trying to do i think, with a lot less hassle.

Hello there,
It's not possible to put a headphone jack in Megadrum Module.
Thanks

You can put a headphone jack in but what will this jack use as a sound source?
