My purchase list (Will this combination work?)

Postby der Papst » Wed Aug 12, 2009 7:43 pm

Module:
Synthex v3.1
32 inputs Jack PCB
Keyboard PCB

Hihat: Millenium food pedal (later optical diy pedal) + Millenium MPS-200 (Mono-Cymbal)
Crash: Millenium MPS-400 (Dual-Cymbal)
Ride: YAMAHA PCY-135 (tripple-cymbal)
Snare: MPS-300 Pad + rim-piezo
Toms: 3x MPS-300 Pad
Bassdrum: MPS-300 Bassdrum

Are all components compatible to megadrum?
And where can i get those jacks?
(Conrad has some, but 4,50€ for 1 stacked stereo jack is much too expensive)

Don't see why they shouldn't be.

Just wanted to be shure :)
I was not shure about the cymbals, especially about the yamaha 3 zone cymbal

Knowing Dmitri, I would assume that even if you had a problem with it he would do what he could to make it compatible. These guys here are the best! I have never seen a site with this much personal backing. I am always in awe of the time and effort that Dmitri and Synthex put into this site. There are also a lot of others that have decided to help when they can that do what they can! I think anything is possible.

I have the same dual zone millenium cymbal / pads and the yamaha PCY and all work fine.

Millenium cymbals are OK as crashes but not very sensitive......they can't really cope with cymbal swells like the Yammie can. Not very good as a hi-hat in my opinion either, but a good starter cymbal all the same.

Shall i buy a Roland CY-8 instead of the MPS-400? (i heard on a forum that the MPS-400 is well and the user posting that was a experienced one).
Did you try the MPS-400 or do you have another one?

And for Hihat would be a Roland CY-5 better?
I can't see a advantage, is the MPS-200 really so unsensible?

The most important cymbals in a drumset are the hithat and the ride, in terms of sensitivity. I would use good cymbals for those two, and crappy millenium mono cymbals for crashes, splashes and chinas.

PD: yes, MPS200 cymbals are pretty unsensitive. I would prefer using a shoe with a piezo sticked to it ;) much cheaper and more sensitive

I'll buy a MPS-400 for HH and Crash, i heared from 2 persons, the mps-400 is as good as the Roland CY-8
And for ride a Yamaha PCY-155 (just 20€ more for 15" :) )

As Erules has already mentioned...the hihat and ride are the two most important cymbals to get right..I used the millenium as a hihat for about a day before buying another yamaha...it really is that bad as a hi-hat.

Some people also complain that the yamaha is not very sensitive on the edge, but i havent noticed ... it works great for me as hihat, crash, ride etc..

I am using my milleniums as splashes and chinas...elrules must be a mind reader!!.

Sorry this is off topic, were did you get those clamps holding your cymbal arms onto the uprights of your rack and what size cymbal pole are they for 3/4" or 7/8"? Thanks macca
I almost forgot, your kit looks really, really good man, one last thing, how's the megadrum manual coming. ;) 8-)
