24 input daughter board better pics

Hey everyone, how are you all? I have made a 24 input daughter board using the schematic found here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=474&hilit=extension&start=20. Here's some pictures, please go easy on me as I just kinda slapped it together without using to much thought, Synthex, is there a way to test this to verify that it will work without connecting the jacks to it, I don't want to drill holes in my enclosure to find out that this daughter board doesn't work, also, I never connected the copper shield of the wire on analog input 3,4 and 5 to ground, is this necessary? I can't wait to see if this works but I'm waiting on some rotary encoders before I open up my megadrum and add the jacks, maybe a week Thanks, Kurt.

Pictures work fine for me.

Just hold a piezo or a jack to the ground and one of the inputs. That's how I tested my v2.8 inputs boards. Ground yourself first.

Synthex was saying that the input wires on pin 3,4 and 5 need to be shielded to prevent noise from occurring, out of curiosity what would the adverse effects be if I was getting noise? Thanks Rubis, why do I need to ground myself anyways when testing the inputs, I was under the impression that I only need to be grounded (which I never did do by the way) when handling the ic's in general?

Hi all, I'm looking for help as to what I should do with the shield on the analog wires, does anyone know if it matters that I never grounded the shields on the daughter board? I'm starting to think that I should have but now I can only attach a ground by cutting a slice in the side of the cable and soldering a ground wire to each of the shields then to ground on the daughter board. I can't connect the shield at the ext connector side, not sure if connecting the one end of the shield to ground will suffice. The main problem is that I epoxied the analog wires to the circuit board as well as the 8 pin connector so that they don't break off from movement so now I can't get at the end of the shield on either side(what a dumbass I am ). You are probably OK, but whenever I directly touch anything electronic, I ground myself. I have forgotten twice now and had to reinstall the firmware. I wasn't even touching the ICs. I have it in a box finally, so it shouldn't happen anymore.

Not sure what would happen on the noise, but I would guess it would be like the people who get crosstalk on triggers that aren't even plugged in or who lose usb midi connection when the fridge turns on.

Thanks Rubis, I'm going to ground the one side of the shields onto the daughter board as a precaution, sure wish I went with my instincts to ground the shield in the first place . A while back my programmed pic from synthex failed i guess not grounding myself my have played a part in it, my pic was failing to receive any sysex commands so I had to replace and program it, which I did ungrounded. I never lost my firmware but I really should be more careful in the future .
