Combination with TD-6v

Hi Everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade my td-6. The reason is not really the sound but to improve dynamics and rolls. So, I have 2 options. Or buy expensive Roland TD-12 or combine my TD-6 with the megadrum hardware. In this second case the TD-6 will be behind megadrum via Midi and will create the sounds.
Any opinions on this combination? I' ve read that in megadrum there is something like 'Dynamic thresholds' , does it corresponds to the TD-12 "Interval Control"?

Thanks a lot!

This is what MegaDrum documentation says about Dynamic Threshold in http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings:

Dynamic Threshold level and Dynamic Threshold decay time for the input. Also two very importn parameters. Here is the explanation:
Suppose you hit a pad and it produces a peak signal of say 500. Now if Dynamic Threshold Level is set to 0 than an initial dynamic threshold for the pad will be set to a half of the peak signal, i.e. to around 250. Every millisecond this threshold will now decrease until zero. How fast it decreases depends on Dynamic Threshold Decay Time. It can be set to between 8 and 64 millisecond. If Dynamic Threshold Level were set to 7 than an initial dynamic threshold for the pad would be set to around 750.

If AltFalseTrSupp is st to Yes, the behaviour of Dynamic Threshold level and Dynamic Threshold decay time is somewhat different but in general is similar.

There is nothing like Interval control in any other modules than the highest-end modules of Roland or Yamaha. That feature is related to sound and not to MIDI triggering.

What does Interval Control.. control :?:
The module will modify sound properties of the samples according to how fast you hit a pad. For example, in cymbals, when you do a fast roll on the edge, instead of triggering lots of normal edge sounds, it will create a continuous crescendo out of it.

So, a software solution (like BFD) could do the "interval control" as well?

Maybe some VST drums can deal with that. I am not really sure about capabilities of Superior Drummer 2 or BFD2 but I guess at least with those high/end VSTs you will have pretty good sound quality and realistic triggering.
