I am seriously thinking of getting a Synthex kit for use in a project. My plan is to utilize piezo sensors on brass or stainless tines struck by Hammer Dulcimer Hammers. Tines could be about 1/4" wide by 6" (2" on one end will be wide enough to attach the piezo sensor). I am wondering if the below Piezo tabs would work instead of the typical piezo sensor most often used in the finger/hand drums.

One place in the specs it says with a 2mm tip deflection it sends out 7v. A 5mm tip deflection 15v. The item runs about $1.75 USD, so the price is right.

Should work just fine. The only thing that I can see being an issue is sensitivity. You might want to try one before you buy a bunch to see if it is sensitive enough.

Cymbal sensors can seem unresponsive because the vibrations are easily dissipated but I'd expect the sensitivity to be too high (too hot) on this sort of mount, even if you used say, 2mm double sided tape.

Thinking of twanging a ruler on the edge of a table ... I suppose there will be plenty of latitude to experiment with mounting around the anchor points but in this case maybe you could save some coins and try with the cheaper typical piezo sensors - have fun!
