Midi vibraphone

Postby Vibrafonica » Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:57 pm

HI folks
IM thinking to purchase the great Megadrum to use as midi vibraphone, but I have some questions, maybe someone can help me...!

Frist, Im not shure to built a good bars triggers with piezo electric mic, because the pads (are 37) should be well isolated ,and dont know if the megadrum can be set to get only the trigger played (and not triggering the pad next to played one). The 37 piezo are put in a table (like a pic of malletkat).
Second: to do that, I need a sustain pedal. Can be possible assign a sustain pedal to megadrum? (sustain pedal like a keyboard one)
This forum is really great!!!
Sorry my poor english
Thanks in advance

Pablo

I'd say that a custom schematic design would be better for a MIDI-vibraphone.

My electronic skills are too poor to do a custom schematic design for myself, I believe that megadrum is a solution ,if I can fix the problems before explain its.
Thanks

MegaDrum has a multilevel crosstalk suppression. Having said that I must say it doesn't do magic so if the crosstalk between vibraphone pads are too high/long MegaDrum won't be able effectively suppress it. Good physical isolation between pads is still required or you will have to trade off on sensitivity.

I don't know how a sustain pedal works. MegaDrum sends MIDI CC messages for all pedal positions.

MegaDrum can store and load several drum maps if this is what you are asking about.
