Megadrum Manager

Postby sbonasuk » Sun May 10, 2015 7:08 pm

I have noticed a couple of issues with Megadrum Manager. My configuration is MD STM32F205RCT6 with 20150411, Win 8.1, Addictive drums 2, the Intel i5 PC is running a triple screen configuration on Eyefinity. And the Output is a Scarlett 2i2 on ASIO.

The first is when I start MDM the "Cfgslots" and "Current" windows show a couple of question marks in each and the way I get it to read "31" and "01" is to press the MIDI2 for sysex button on and off. Am I doing something wrong?

The second is MDM crashes (stops no response at all ) after an indiscriminate period but normally during a session which requires a restart, it doesn't affect operation as I have saved the config however as abyone else had this problem.

Until you 'Get' or 'Send' global misc settings (or 'Gat All/Send All') there is no way for MDM to know how many Config Slots MegaDrum can hold or what Current Config in MegaDrum is.

Hm, it will be very hard to address unless I can reproduce it. I tested it for all functionality in virtual Win 8.1 but it was a rather short test and I have not seen any problems.

Thanks I knew it had to be easy so just send misc settings end of issue.

The second problem occurs every time but sadly to no specific event, just after a period of time, minutes usually. Its not a showstopper though I generally turn of MDM once I've change a setting.

The question really then is to the forum as to whether others have had this occur or it may be a java issue specific to my setup.

Hi!

Regarding the hungups in MDM...I would guess that you are running MDM and AD2 against the same midi port to your MD. Thats why there is two virtual midiports on your MD.

Use MegaDrum Port 1 for AD2 and MegaDrum Port 2 for MDM. Don't mix...then you will end up with a MDM crash.

No issues for me, and I have a similar set up as you. As Dmitri sais without some kind of cause that is reproducable it's difficult to do anything about.
With the Focusrite you can use the driver from their site

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

Thanks for that but no, fell for that one early in the config of AD2, but having read your AD2/MDM web manual it was simple to solve. In the midi section of AD2 it shows the two Midi outputs 1 and 2 and as you suggest 1 is MDM and 2 is AD2.

Yes guys its looking very much like a java issue specific to my display driver. A new laptop is arriving soon so it will be easy to see whether it is an environmental failing. Or maybe my 64th note rolls just beat it to death.

Hi Angr77 on the subject of AD2 and MD how many of the MD settings are overridden by AD2, is seems that once the important task of setting the hilvl, retrigger and threshold, a lot of the MD settings appear redundant. Although the hihat certainly stretches the grey matter, an in depth setup post for the hihat certainly would not go amiss.

It depends on if you went for the basic or the advanced type of settings in AD2/MD.

In the advanced mode the hihat and snare logic have been moved to AD2 to decide which sound to use based on cc value from the hihat and positional sensing for the snare.

In the basic mode - all logics are handled in MD.

The idea with the rom maps found in MD (basic and advanced) is to provide a midi map for a fixed series of inputs. (All other settings needs to be handled in the MD)

The idea with rom kits (basic and advanced) is to provide a complete kit with midi maps and all settings for a fixed series of inputs and a fixed series of e-pads/cymbals. Like a reference kit out of the box! One click and you have configured it all....just to select the MegaDRUM settings in AD2.

Check my manual for details.
