need help getting started with positional sensing on snare

Where do I even begin? I'm using a DIY mesh head roland style 2 piezo snare with center mounted cone.

I'll have to test it out tonight. I'm not following the whole precision rectifier part of it. I don't know what the difference is between a roland mesh type center cone pad and the Pintech, or in my case 2 piezo's wired directly to a stereo jack for head/rim .
