BFD2 infos

Postby johnvpr » Mon Nov 24, 2008 11:30 am

Just wanted to write down some usefull info i've found on internet for using BFD2 and MegaDrum.
For me it looks like this software is the one that gives you more control of your MD.
The only problem is that it looks like it needs very high CPU but you can set low size samples, if you have a slow machine

this tutrial it's super, the koolest part is when the guy regulates the pression on the pedal by dragging sliders.. but I wondering why I cant move HH sliders on my BFD2, meaby settings on my MD are not fine, i've set CC to 4!, I'm using a 22k potensiometer DIY pedal and configured in MD ad f.cont

this is what I found on bfd forum

It's quite easy to use an external midi footpedal to controll the hihat variable hits together with the Triggerfinger. Just plug the pedal into your pc (I've used the on board foot controller on my BOSS GT6, set up to transmit CC4, hooked up via a simple midi connection) and check that the same MIDI CC that you set up is used to control the hat, it worked pretty well to me. The slider on the TF to do the same thing works ok, but it doesn't have the right feel, I must agree with Jord.

Hey Jord, I really got to check out the Korg it seems. Is it really that much better than the TF?

Anyway it's a great thing these variable hits, to my humble opinion. Specially that you can cheat pretty much with it when recording, e.g. I sometimes first record only the hat track fingerdrumming along, just using the one variable hit, then go over it again but then automate-record the midi controller that's opening and closing the hat. Something sequential like that won't do the trick live, but hey, a la guerre, comme a la guerre n'est ce pas?

found the answare:
1) Load BFD2
2) Go to the Mapping Page
3) On the piano roll there, scroll down to and select A#0 Hihat V-Tip (!)
4) Just to the right, you'll see a box there where you can enter the MIDI CC of your expression pedal.
Notes: It should default to midi CC 4. It might be easier / smarter to change the midi channel of your expression pedal to CC 4.
