idea for mac users (not the best, but...)

i've upgraded my MD to the newest firmware - and lo and behold - disaster - nothing works anymore.

so with all these mac-related troubles, i figured, i might as well just a small PC, only for running MCT.

this work work fine, no?

MD usb output to PC
MD midi output to midi sequencer (mac leopard, running superior drummer 2)

the PC will simply act as the "brain" for the MD - nothing else.

The firmware upgrade by itself should have not caused this. What exactly stopped working?

after the upgrade it doesn't reboot itself, nor does it show anything other than the bluescreen (with no writing) when unplugged and plugged back in.

edit:
and in MCT it doesn't recognize the update (which i've tried a dozen time so far).

it says:

and while trying to update again and gain through MCT the midi LED doesn't blink. it just stays on.

Firmware update issue in MCT is not Mac specific. There are issues with it on Windows and Linux also. The only guaranteed way of the firmware update is using MIDI-OX: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=622

yes. and that can't be done on a mac (with windows installed too)

Why can't this be done with Windows installed?

i'm sure it can be done with windows (sorry mistyped the last entry).

but seeing as MCT and MD runs smoother/easier(!) on a windows XP machine - i'm gonna buy a small ASUS EEE, just for that sole purpose.

will USB out to Windows XP/MCT work simultaniously
while running the MIDI out to my DAW (digi 002 and protools) ?

or do i just have to unplug the windows machine after an udate/save/loaded preset etc.. ?

This should work simultaneously.

It is a 'Sticky' topic in the 'MegaDrum Hardware' subforum:
