variable hi hat samples

Postby dm9876 » Fri Aug 28, 2009 7:25 pm

Anyone know of a source of free drum samples that include variable hi-hats. ie not just open + closed.

I'm using Hydrogen on Linux

At the moment I'm using these samples which sound great but no variable hats

GSCW kit

Alternatively any pay for ones?

I am looking for the some good samples to use with Hydrogen as well. I found the GSCW kits the other day, but as you said, it does not have variable hi-hat. I actually am not so sure that Hydrogen supports variable hihats. Each sub step just takes up a channel, so Open, 3/4 Open, Half Open, 1/4 Open, and Closed would each take up a channel, rather than having one channel for the pedal position and one for the hi-hat.

Ah good to seem I'm not alone. Seems everyone else is on the BFD / EzDrummer / superior drummer route.

The latest release candidate supports "mute groups" (used for open / close hh samples) and also has some feature to allow CC messages to modify a note so I figure it should be able to do it (though I have not specifically experimented with it).
