Question about wiring the input sockets

Postby mbira » Wed Aug 12, 2009 6:58 am

Hi guys,
I'm working on building one of the dual board versions of the 32 channel megadrums.

One difference is that I'm not actually using these for an electronic drum kit, rather I hwill have a series of 32 (?) piezo triggers that when hit with a mallet will trigger various things in Ableton via midi note messages.

I am using four different DB15 connectors to connect to 8 channels for each connector. My question is this:

I'm confused about which channel is going to which pin on the "pads connector" in the schematic for the input sockets. If I am just wanting to go in banks of four (1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32) Will I just go in order on the "pads connector" on the schematic, and then just connect all the grounds to pin 40?

Hmmm...it doesn't look like it because I see pin 27, 29, 31, 33, and 39 are not connected.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question...I'm just thrown off because i don't know which channel each drum pad is connected to.

If you look at the schematic of the analogue board you will see it has a pinout description (Pads connector pinout). You just need to follow it.

Hi Dmitri,
Thanks for the response, and thanks for a great tool! I am looking at the schematic. That is what I'm referring to in my post. The schematic has the drum names rather than channel number. What I'm wondering is:
Do those drum names correspond to a specific channel number and in what order?

Thanks,
Joel

Thanks so much, Dmitri. I apologize if that is repeated info that I missed somewhere else on the forum...
