Hi all, since I draw so much inspiration from the creations of others I share here my completed megadrum build

Details:
*based on Synthex v2.8 kit
*Clear lid enclosure to show off sexy blue PCB and avoid the need of a cut-out for the LCD
*vertical orientation with jacks mounted under the PCB (allows compact arrangement)
*switches are:
*toggle power between USB / External
*pedal Hi-Z / Low-Z
*pedal polarity
*still needs labels on the rear

Comments:
*while offering huge flexibility (and I love to see all the variation in design), I think the kit could benefit from being design to fit a specific enclosure.
*Direct wiring the 1/4" TRS jacks is tiresome.
*The Jacks pcb offered by Synthex obviously could make for a very tidy build but 1/4" TRS are bulky in any case, even if they are the de-facto standard.
*Possibly if building another I would consider a connector such as 'Centronics' (old printer style 36 way connector) with IDC connection internally (for rapid, tidy & compact connection). Then have some sort of cable octopus that breaks out the high density connector to the leads going to each trigger. (I believe new Roland TD4 has something similar).

Hey Guys,

This is the start of my second vDrum kit, my first being an AtoE conversion, based on a TD3.

Just finished my MegaDrum Module, had a few things in mind when making it, mainly:

* Focus on smallest possible packaging
* Based on Synthex's v3.1 kit
* Used 3.5mm sockets
* My co-worker Dean (2 posts above) gave me the idea of using a 'Remote Display' w Buttons.
* Idea being to mount the module in the bass drum (or somewhere else) and only have the remote display visible / in reach of the Drummer.
Also, if the screen isn't needed once fully setup, then simply disconnect the screen + switches via the parallel port connector.
* Used an old Lacie Ext HDD enclosure

Problems:
The LCD ended up being upside down to what I thought it would be will change that soon.... but it works....
Holes are a bit wonky, as I'm living overseas and the only tools I have are a $10 drill, a soldering iron and a pocket knife...

Future:
Only connected 34 inputs, 17 sockets... I'm sure that's enough for now though, gives options for the future though.
Get a new enclosure for remote display (its from an old 4 port switch), flip the screen, and use nicer buttons.

* The switch is a power switch, as the USB cable is hardwired
* The Bezel to the left of the switch is the activity LED

Nice work man, you had some great idea's there. I managed to get all 56 1/4" trs inputs, lcd screen, power switch, led, High/low impedence switch, rotary encoders, midi in/out and usb port all in an 8"x7"x2.5" enclosure, anything is possible .
