Issue with Dual Zone in Megadrum

Postby danifc » Wed Oct 07, 2009 6:03 pm

Hi!
I only write with problems.... :D
First,I can set double zone in my millenium stereo pad crash with double zone yes and type switch, but in my ride(another millenium stero, same as the crash one)i can,t.It,s strange,it gives me sound of rim when i touch head or rim...

Another thing is that my hihat (roland cy5) gives me one zone too,i put double zone yes and type switch or piezo, and nothing happens.... I change the cable but doesn,t work, but when i put the crash pad cable in the hihat pad,it gives me double zone, strange,no?.Snare is double zone (pdx8) and it works, but when i put the snare cable in the hihat pad doesn,t recognize the double zone.

All of this have tested with the midi log in the MCT Configuration Tool, hitting the head and rim of the pads.

Any advice will be appreciate..
;)

I'm still trying to resolve your previous problem.

Well,i think i have to change some values to get those rim sounds, but what values?
The ride gives me same sound of rim when i hit head or rim.
The hihat gives me (now) rim sound but only when i pressed the hi hat pedal...

One problem at a time. Which pad/cymbal shall we start with? Don't forget to include as much information as possible - it is a known fact that most of the answer is in the (right) question.
E.g. this is what the question could look like:
1. I have a dual zone cymbal of piezo/switch type.
2. On the Bow input I've set DualHead to Yes.
3. On the Edge input I've set Type to Switch.
4. I've set the Bow note to 40.
5. I've set the Edge note to 50.
6. I've set the Edge Threshold to 40 because according to http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings with this value I get aftertouch messages in MIDI-OX when I press and release the edge switch.
7. I've left all other settings for the Bow/Edge at defaults.
Why do I get the bow note 40 (while watching it in MIDI-OX) instead of the edge note 50 when hitting the edge lightly? (with a stronger hits I get edge sound without problems) I've read MegaDrum documentation and I've searched the forum but couldn't find the answer.

Good! I guess you managed to find answers by simply raising the right questions to yourselves.

Here you are mistaken, I'm not a good drummer :)

Hi!
i,m back again!
I have an issue with the rim of my pdx-8 snare(piezo/piezo).If i put double zone,i loose hits in the bow of the snare, and sometimes rim appears when i hit the bow. When i put single zone, the bow gets well,it catches all my hits with no loose.I have changed theshold, and other parameters but noway
P.D.Dmitri,Can you tell me the parameters of your piezo/piezo snare,so i can test it?
I hope you will be fine soon!

For dual piezo/piezo pads it is very important that HighLevel for the head and the rim are set correctly, i.e. neither of the head/rim inputs are too hot and that you get the maximum MIDI level on either of the inputs only if you hit the zones reasonably hard.
The Rettriger setting on both inputs should also be reasonably close.
