Why have not you built MegaDrum yet?

It is too complicated. I wish someone would build it for me.

There are better commercial offerings, taking in account price(of the offerings) and time(to build MegaDrum)?

MegaDrum is too young, I'll wait until I have more feedback from others.

Cheers!
And forget that if American sourced components are used in any EU exported products then our fiends expect veto on the trade. (Get around this by buying Americana and dumping superior tech' on your nearest EU neighbour - like the Brit's did with the transputer).

Ken, lighten up man! The world is, as it is, and you and I can't do much about it ;)
(that's why I'm dealing with Japanese, they just want the money and don't ask much!)

I think all of us (well, most of us) here are just to have fun! Personaly for me, MD is a getaway
from everyday's rush and pressure (Japs are not all that simple) and I don't realy care about who,
why, when..... did something!
Just look at the whole MD project, started by Russian guy (or something in the naberhood) with american components produced in Taiwan, sold to me by French guy, contributed ad feedbacked by all of members here.
Music is the universal language ( no, I'm not a hippy) and I dont care about anything else when I hit the MD forum.

BTW, if in Split, check out the Split chicks at night :D , much nicer subject to talk about here!

My feeling is that Ken is an extraterrestrial intelligent life form with a completely different way of thinking and that's why 99% of the time nobody understands what he/she/it? is saying but I might be wrong :)

He's thinking outside the box...the MegaDrum box (Matrix). The truth is out there, on the inside of a large chip (a redoubtable enhanced version of the Amiga chip Fat Agnus) controlling just about everything...and yes it has positional sensing. If this doesn't make any sense, ask Ken, he knows what I'm talking about ...wait a minute!...I'm starting to sound like Ken...could it be!??..Am I?...What's my name?...NOOOOOOOOOO!

I a few days he's goig to aproach you with two pills and you'll be able to find out the whole thruth and everything will be finally clear! :D

Extraterrestrial? Maybe not quite, maybe more like border line mad scientist who knows anything about everything but thinking to fast for us common mortals, you have to spell it out to us, man! ;)
(maybe that's why he knows about Croatian negotiations problems so much?)

Ken's superriority aside, personaly I think people are mostly afraid to mess with electronics which they don't know much about. And if you have to make the board, you know it's not that easy if you didn't done it before.
What I like about this project is that you stick it to THE MAN! Not everything has to cost thousands of dolars and we can do alot if we do it together!
(Don't mine if you make a few bucks in the meantime ;) )

Go on blame the French but, according to the Lisbon Treaty:
1. France is fundamentally in favor of eventual Croatian membership
1.1. Membership negotiations with Croatia should continue at an orderly pace, concluding when Croatia has successfully opened and closed all chapters of the acquis communautaire.
1.2. Croatian completion of negotiations will require firm commitment from the Croatian state, and improvements in several areas.
1.3. Admittance to the European Union is contingent not only on membership negotiations being succesfully completed, but also on ratification of the Megadrum Treaty by all current EU members.
2. France is in favor of the recommendations of the Presidency with regards.

:) Don't forget the 'International Symposium on Coupled Methods in Numerical Dynamics' (16 to 19 at Split University) - could save the postage.

FINALY!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I got it!! It looks like Croatia is realy far away from France, no matter what Ken think!

I made the wrong choice in this poll. It wasn't too complicated as I first thought.
I have now built a MegaDrum!

My first post after reading through quite a bit of the thread this week...

:?:
Does anyone know the approximate man-hours needed to build the latest synthex kit?

My reason for asking is that i wish to purchase the kit and then have a local experienced builder put it together and pay him whatever is needed...AND i wanted to give him an approximate hours-to-complete number. Money is not part of this equation, rather i just don't want to screw this thing up! I will gladly pay someone to build it.

I play the hammered dulcimer (amoung other things), and i wish to utilize the MD as the brains for a midi-dulcimer. Have yet to experiment on the tiggers, but that should be fun (my old analog synth days _think patch cords_ saw plenty of DIY stuff/projects.) I won't need case/jacks/ etc as it will all go into the dulcimer housing.

Thanks in advance for any replies, AND for this website/concept!

cheers,
Thom

It thakes 2 hours ( 3 cigaretes smoked during solder :) ) for a pro to put the board together. Another hour to hour and half to solder the leads to inputs screen and control knobs.
The rest depends on the type of the enclosure.
Hope this helps!

Cheers
