Configuring Hi Hat pedal settings - no splash

Hi,

I have just built a megadrum from a 561 synthex kit. Excellent quality board and delivery within a week to UK. Very straightforward assembly.

I made a Hi Hat pedal controller from a Hall effect sensor and a magnet. It seems to work very well.

I am having some problems with megadrum configuration for the hi hat pedal. I am monitoring the stream of midi signals with a Linux machine so I see all the CC and NOTE messages. I set the HiLevel (630) and LoLevel (530) so than when I depress the pedal I get a stream of CC4 messages varying from 0ish to 127 and at the bottom I get a chink note (42) with velocity depending on how fast I press the pedal. This is always followed by another chink note with velocity 0 (I don't understand why that is). The problem is that I cannot get a splash note (46) whatever I do (ie stamping very briefly on the pedal then releasing it).

Any ideas?

For splash look at the ChckDelay setting.
MIDI Note On message with level 0 = MIDI Note Off message.

I just plugged the megadrum into a Roland keyboard and while the chick and splash work beautifully, I noticed another problem. I get a quiet chick sound when I open the pedal - in fact if I keep my foot in the middle so the CC4 messages hover around 64 I get so many chicks it sounds like static noise! What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the pointer to the hi hat thread. I had actually read it before I started tinkering with my own system but I read through the whole lot again.

It seems I have fixed my problem by setting ShrtChckTh to 10 (was 115)
