Some questions

Postby KlaasNachtegael » Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:43 pm

I'm considering to buy a 48-input megadrum-kit, but since I don't really have a technical background (I'm pretty new in the world of digital music-making) not everything is clear yet. I was wondering if it is possible to use the megadrum-module as a melodical module? For instance, to make a three octave marimba. Is it possible to hook up 36 piezos and make the module give midi signals of the notes played? Another (maybe dumb) question: seeing pictures of the 56-channel module, I only count 32 jack-inputs. Where are the other inputs?
thanks in advance

I am not quite certain what you are asking in your first question, but if I read it right then no, megadrum won't recognize a midi note on the piezo inputs. It simply takes an A/C pulse from the piezo and converts it to a midi "note". All of the signals in will be dealt with the same way. It is the output that is where you are able to assign different "notes" .

Your second question is easier to answer. Most of the jacks are stereo, the "kick" input is mono and there is an input for the hi-hat controller. Each of the stereo inputs are considered two input since they can be split and two mono pads used.
