Received my new Atmega... stuck on Vumeter screen

Postby kimouette » Tue Nov 30, 2010 7:45 pm

I received my new Atmega. So I took off the old one and put the new one, but now something weird is happening.

When I plug it in my computer I get the normal copyright screen but when the Vu-Meters appear, it shows activity on some inputs.... but there's absolutely no jack connected to my MD!

Nomatter what button I press nothing happens, all I can see is the VuMeter.

Could this be happening because the Atmega is not correcty positionned in its socket? I took a good look at it and it SEEMS ok, but now that I see this, I dont know what to think

Is your MegaDrum 32 or 56 inputs version?

Load a 32 inputs firmware version. All Atmega chips come pre-loaded with a 56 inputs firmware version.

yes for me too...i reload the right firmware after 2 minutes i received atmega and all is good!
But i have strange other things...sometimes i must play all (or most) of my pad before megadrum start to send midi signal over usb (midi led doesn't blink, and vu meter are flat).
This is only after i power up megadrum, and not every times!

Please, start a separate topic for a different issue and describe it with more details.

I cant install the firmware. I power MD while holding the key LEFT pressed, but it doesnt bring me to the normal "FwSUpdater 16MHz DOWN-ok.UP-clock screen". Instead I get the copyright screen and right after, the Vumeter screen. The blue light does NOT blink and my computer shows a pop-up "USB device not recognized".
And from there, I'm still stuck on the Vumeter screen.

And if you put back your old Atmega everything works fine?

Geez I'm so STUPID!
It was all my fault! I forgot to plug back the wires for the 4 buttons

Ok so I can press the LEFT key, then press down (I have a 16MHZ) downloaded the latest firmware and mdfwupdate.
Ran CMD, and typed what you explained in the procedure. but here's what I get
mdfwupdate.png

If I press "YES", I automatically get back to an empty line ( C:/Users/Kimono ).... What am I doing wrong?
Sorry for all the stupid questions.. again!!
