building a percussion instrument

Postby brice » Tue Jan 08, 2008 2:28 pm

Hello there, I know this might be a little off topic

I'm trying to build a percussion instrument, and the megadrum project seems very interesting, but
I'd need a pcb that could handle 61 velocity sensitive piezos (5 octaves), 2 pedals, and maybe 8 buttons to quickly change channels.
USB would be best (for power too) + midi in/out

I don't have the tools nor the knowledge to build my own pcb (did that at school over 10 years ago)
could anyone help me with my project, or point me in the right direction?

Theoretically.... 1 Megadrum module could handle 64 channels if Dmitri were to code and to release such a firmware.

As for now, you could build multiple 32 inputs megadrum modules say...3 of them and, chaining them, you would get enough
channels to handle 61 piezo, 2 pedals and more than 8 buttons....

been a while

so
1x MegaDrum Atmega32 Digital Board
2x MegaDrum Analogue Board - 32 inputs version

would work and should give me enough inputs, and later I could add another simple board for the 8 buttons I'd also like?

These will give 32 inputs in total.

so I'd need 4 analog boards?
or you mean I also need 2x digital board?

For 64 input you will need two Digital boards and four Analogue boards or just two Synthex's kits.

do it'd require 2x usb port on the computer?
no luck for a single 64 input digital board?
