4051 unnamed pin

Postby germtangc » Sun Apr 03, 2011 1:09 pm

I am in the process of making my own board for my megadrum project. I was looking at the latest schematic for the analogue board and I noticed an unnamed pin of 4051 connected to ground. Is this the Vss pin of 4051?

pin 8 - ground (Vss)
pin 16 - +5 (Vcc)

Again thanks for the quick reply. It's a good thing I read the data sheet for 4051 and made the right guess as to the Vss to ground connection.

A little off topic question. I can't find any BAT85 here at my place though I saw from a store's product listing a BAT54T1G on SOD123 package. I read the datasheet and with what limited knowledge I have with electronics I think it would be a suitable alternative. And it's SMD so it'll make the analogue board a little compact.

Would this really be good to use as replacement for BAT85?

I don't know. bat54 has different peak reverse voltage & different forward voltage drop values, different max surge current, etc. My question to you is how do you plan on using smd components on a through hole schematic. (I am assuming you are using Dimitri's analog board) :?

No. I compared both datasheets and they have the exact same characteristics. The only difference I saw is the reverse recovery time. I'm using the latest Analogue board schematics to make my own board using eagle.

ndeed. BAT54T1G seems similar with the exception of Non−Repetitive Peak Forward Current. bat54 = 600 mA vs. bat85 = 5A? What if you encounter a "hot" pad? .. Props on making your own board. Makes life interesting!
