Successful PIC programming message?

Postby Russ15 » Sat Sep 10, 2011 12:53 am

So I have gone through the steps listed in the documentation bit and this is the readout I get under the messages tab after programming... however this doesn't seem correct, is it? What does a proper programming message look like? Plugging in to pc via usb also does not recognize megadrum.. off to clean board with water

Just a quick update from reading the other posts with PIC issues and looking at my own board:

1. Not getting any voltage over pin 14... reads 0, all other pins check out

2. Using a com to usb adapter/cable to program (wish I knew before I ordered it) over Winpic (apparently this doesn't work... anyone had any luck?)

Biggest concern is the 0 voltage of pin 14... I have cleaned all the boards with soap and water as well as isopropyl alcohol and still the same result.

What could cause you to "fry" a chip?

What about the 0 voltage on pin 14... should it show this voltage before programming?

There will be 0 until the PIC is programmed.

Wow, thank you dmitri for your reply. :D I was very worried I had done something wrong to the chip... I need to find a computer with a serial port now and get a good cable. Thank you!

Quick question... can PIC be programmed over a parallel port? I have a Male to Male Db25 cable hooked up to a female Db25 to male Db9 adapter. This is hooked up to the ICSP cable to program pic. Is this possible?
