Ow.. thresholds is something I havent set :) Was in hurry the other day
I will look into it.
Do you think its possible just play with the settings and avoid the KRC whilse still using piezo/piezo on the bell and edge

Sorry, I can only speak for the build I've done and that's Piezo/switch/switch with a 10k resistor on the edge switch.

Hi rockdude the pictures in above post are a damped brass cymbal (so called AtoE). Do you have any pics of the plastic one you are now using? My interest is for how you implemented the bell switch.. two layers of the copper tape? since with brass cymbal on side of the switch is the cymbal.

Does it work ok. I worry with the flat flim switch that you need a more cone shaped bell for it to work where as my plastic cymbal is more dome shaped bell, and not sure how it would sit well on top. That is why I was thinking to use the piezo with KRC in place of the switch for the bell.

Hi Dean,
I'll see if I can find some time tomorrow to upload the pictures from my build. I'm using thin brass
sheets cut into suiting pieces for my switches. They're pretty easy to shape, yet rigid and very conductive. It's a perfect material to solder on too. I've tried aluminium sheets and aluminium tape before, but the tape was clumsy to solder or stick wires too and not that conductive. The aluminium sheet worked ok, but too stiff and also hard to solder stuff on.

>>thin brass

Some people on vdrums told me that after a while the copper tape would probably become "worn-out", but it's been couple of months now, and it still works fine!

I was probably one of those people, kim. ;) Whenever I've used the copper tape, it eventually became wrinkled with the flexing of the switch. A thicker tape will cause less wrinkling, so maybe you used a thicker tape then I did... I probably play harder too, causing more flexing of the tape thus more wrinkling. But I have found that using sheet brass under plastic is best, six months and still holding up really well!

I've considered using thin plastic and brass sheet under, but I've been afraid it would diminish playability and performance a bit. I'm still using only thin brass sheets attached to "sound off"-mats. I've been using that setup approximately a month and it's still holding up fine and it performs very good! I might try combining "sound off"-mat, thin plastic and thin brass sheet on the edge switch, where I guess it's more prone to deform in the long run.

Does it say "Yamaha 3 zone replica" or "Roland 3 zone replica" in the topic title?
