Hi guys, I've been a long time follower of the megadrum project and it's great to see it go from strength to strength, It is certainly on my to build list after a few other projects, the soldering iron has been running flat out lately!
Whilst I do agree that megadrum offers an unparalleled set of features compared to other TMI's I still find it really lacking in one area - hi hats!
We have 40 inputs but only one hi-hat pedal input! Why?
Playing with multiple hats is very popular these days amongst acoustic kit users, and guys like thomas lang, benny greb etc have been been pushing the boundaries on this frontier for a number of years, however there is still no way to get multiple hi-hat pedal inputs on e-kits, save for using two modules.
by allowing multiple inputs that generate midi CC data I think the mega drum would really have an advantage over other TMI's, heck if you could design a mini board that could take 5 controller inputs I think people would really like it, I know i certainly would, think about it.. many things are possible.. electronic tympani for one! using the foot pedals to control things like volume and envelopes with your DAW, imagine having pedal that could sweet a low pass filter up and down while your playing!
so now you know what i'd like I have a couple questions
what would need to be modified so that the megadrum could have multiple Control pedal inputs? would it be mainly programing changes? or would changes to the actual components be needed also?
is there any way a separate board (allowing 5 or so inputs) could be designed so that it could be linked with a megadrum?
would anyone else be interested in this? personally I would rather have a second hi-hat pedal than position sensing, but I realise my tastes do not speak for everyone....
thanks guys, and keep up the great work dmitri
