I have ordered an Atmega644-20PU from synthex and I want to know if I can update the firmware the same way I do now with Atmega32 processor.
I update the firmware with midiox.
My question is: Do I have to alter the hex for 644 the same way as for AT32 to be able to update firmware with midiox?

A MegaDrum firmware file must be modified slightly: three bytes, 0xF0 0x7F 0x40, must be prepended and one byte, 0xF7, must be appended and rename the *.hex file to *.syx, e.g. see this file:

megadrum32_16_32_20080130_2.syx

Does this apply to the 644 firmware too?

In theory yes, the process is the same. Why in theory? Because I haven't yet created/tested a SysEx bootloader for Atmega644.

Will it be long until you have tested bootloader on the 644?

If it will be soon, I'd like Synthex to hold the shipment until it works and program the 644 with bootloader.
