Ok
As far as MDM is concerned, I have configured it twice now, firstly with windows 7 and last week with vista (don't ask!) I felt it was by luck rather than judgement, though once loaded it will give you a better overview of things and how to configure them. I will post here, exactly what I did and others may correct me before being added if need be.
Also I think I should point out that the real beauty of this product is that it can be wired in many differing configurations.
For those of you that may remember Simmons MTM, it had the ability to output 6 midi notes in a chord (root, 3rd, 5th and the octave above in major, minor, suspended and many more) Bill Bruford was the only guy I'm aware of who used it too any degree, and this could be configured in layers, singly, or as a stab, via velocity.
For those of you who just need to trigger dual zone pads/mesh heads then I would have thought the 56 input/ 28 dual heads would be plenty. After all, Terry Bozzio only has 20 odd drums!
For those of you with a more adventurous palette, the Simmons idea mentioned above is possible, and with more possibilities, by wiring one jack input to one or more MD inputs. You can use different thresholds, vel curves and more. My suspicion is that this is what Dmitri may have had in mind when designing this.
It's a fine product, not just from the 'trigger anything' angle but from the more imaginative drumming angle.
