Roland uses 27 mm on the head and 35 on the rim. So far I've only installed the head piezo. Could you please explain to me what you mean by "using the high level parameter" in order too find out whether my piezo's too hot or to cold?

Please forgive my ignorance....It's my first diy drum.

In MD's menu (dunno if the software tool has this parameter too, if so you can use that), go to the 'HiLvlAuto' setting for the pad you're testing and set it to 'HiLvlAuto=yes'. Then give the pad a few hard whacks and see what number you get on the screen. If it's higher than 800-900 the pad is most probably too hot and will need a couple of resistors or a trimmer/pot. If you search in the forum there are many suggested ways of cooling the pad that work.

You also might want to have a look at this: http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings to see what each parameter does.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

When the hilvlauto is set to yes "high level" shows me parameters around 980-990. But I have to hit it pretty hard.

'In theory', as long as your hardest whack doesn't make it go up to 1023 (or whatever the highest number is) you're within range. All I can suggest is that you double-check the wiring of the piezo to the jack/try another piezo. Does this happen to all your pads or just the one? That different note creeping in once in a while does seem strange though...

If you could tell me what specific information you need, maybe I can put some more light on the matter. So far I can only tell you about the "symptoms" of my drum. As to what might cause these problems I really have no idea.

1. All settings for both zones.
2. MIDI Log output when the problem manifests itself.

Also if you get HighLevel above 900 then your pad is more than likely is too "hot".

Here's the thing now: as I'm using Roland components (cones and piezos) the only difference between my diy-pad and roland ones must be in head tension and/or cone height. As on the internet there is no common agreement on how high the cone extends above the rim and how tight the head is tensioned exactely, I rent an original Roland PD 105 until Monday. Hardware-wise I should have one of the best solutions on the market right now.

I plugged the PD 105 into my megadrum, started Addictive Drums and the result: Same problem as with my self-made DIY Pad. Hot spot in the middle (though a little weaker than on my drum), no signal at the outer part of the mesh and every third or forth hit a wrong note. (Wrong notes increase the harder I hit the drum).

Conclusion: The fault can not be with the pad as this pad works fine on Roland TD modules. There must be something with megadrum that leads to all this horrible triggering.

Any thoughts, ideas?

The wrong note must be set somewhere, must not it? Where is it set?

3. Firmware version.
4. If pads are too "hot", they must be "cooled" otherwise you will get all sorts of triggering problems.

Could you please tell me how to extract the midi log file? In megadrum manager I only find the option of viewing the midi-log but not saving it in some way.

You can make a screenshot of the MIDI Log.

Currently megadrum is connected to the PD-105. My diy-pad is configured the same way - it doesn't have a second (rim) zone yet, though.
