Hotspot and general triggering issues

Usually a lower threshold like value near the zero generate a costant retriggering , if you have a bad sensivity try to raise the Roland cone near the mesh ,2 mm of contact are more than sufficient.

I've a 35mm piezo with Foam Cone like roland but I can not lower the threshold than 5 because generate a constant MIDI note on activity like "machine gun"

Your threshold value sounds strange....

Maybe that's the difference. My cone is exactely 2mm above the rim. However for Head Piezo I'm using a 27mm piezo (as all Roland pads do). Maybe that's why your pad is more sensitiv.

Roland pad's like PD 100/120/125 use a 35mm Piezo under the cone

The 27mm is used on PDX6 PDX8 etc...

That's not true, I'm sorry. I recently ordered original Roland Piezos for the PD 125. As expected (and from users in many forums confirmed) as head sensor I received a 27 mm piezo and for the rim a 35 mm piezo.

As far as I know even the new PD 128 uses 27 mm for the head and 35 mm for the rim.

In your case if you have a bad sensivity try to connect a 35mm piezo and a foam cone

Just for my curiosity, your megadrum kit is build from Dmitri or from you?

Because if it has been built from Dmitri this problem sound very strange...but if has been built from you the causes may be different ( bad connection/soldering defective components )

It was built by dmitri. I will first try to cool my pad down. If that doesn't work I might try your suggestion. Main problem currently is false double-triggering. With cooling the pad down, according to dmitri, chances are great that I'll get rid of that problem.

Hi.

I don't now if these facts add anything to this thread...but on my Roland external triggers RT-10S there is a 27 mm piezo for rim and a 20 mm for the head. In my case...I had to cool down the head trigger by a 15k resistor. The rim is fine without.

It seems like it is more the mechanical implementation which determine if a piezo get hot or not...

But also, a piezo can be hotter even if it`s the same size as the other ...
Anyway, the process is pretty simple - read HghLvl, and if it`s higher than 900 - cool it down. What`s the big deal?

can you post some pictures of the inside of your pad?

How it works the sensivity of the rim?
