how high performance should i expect with roland/yamaha eq?

hello fellow diy enthusiasts. since i'm new to the forums and megadrum project, let me introduce myself briefly. i'm an experienced acoustic drummer who is new to e-drums, directed by the comfort of playing at home, also a guy who likes building things up from nothing and gets satisfied with it. now, i've been reading about megadrum for the last 4 hours and got pretty excited about the idea of building a midi-only-controller device and use pc for sound producing, just what i'm looking for. i've been thinking of buying a roland td-3/4/9/11 but it's instrument count and configurability limitations held me back, and upon seeing this project i've gave the decision of making one.

is this module compatible with roland and yamaha equipment so that i can just plug&play?

so one question comes up to my mind, how high sound quality should i expect from a diy megadrum (considering i'm gonna use roland equipment for drums and cymbals) compared to a, lets say td-9 or 11, and what/any specifications will i lose? i hope this is a fair enough question. thanks to dimitri for sharing such a great project with public and everyone who is interested in!

oh also i should add that i'm a total noob in electronics, i'm gonna make it with some friends of mine.

yes. Every commercial pad that uses piezo or switch to detect a stroke is compatible .But, that said, like every thing that is universally compatible, you need to deal with it and tweak a lot!

It depends on the drum sampler you use. I use Addictive Drums and it wins on every TD50/60/... we would see in the far future...You will loose no features, you might gain some more features, instead.

If you have good friends, join them in! You'll probably need it.
If you are a time saver, don't trY this at home!!!
Search "Roland" in the forum to start making an idea. And read carefully and in-deep...

hi, thanks for the respond! my point was that; according to what i read on the net, for example, both yamaha pcy135 and roland cy-13r (which are 3zone cymbals) do have different triggering methods, and has different outputs (yamaha has 1 jack and roland has 2). for instance, both will be playable no matter what, right? sorry that's because i'm not good at electronics. by the way, i've tried a search "roland" on the forums but it turned to an error saying the search criteria was too common!

If you can choose - go with pcy135

MegaDrum supports both Yamaha and Roland style 3 zone cymbals but, as everson advised, it's better to go with Yamaha since, for the same functionality, they use only one jack and less expensive compared to Roland.
