Variable note off

Postby airflamesred » Wed Feb 13, 2013 11:12 pm

What would be the consequences of this being available to individual inputs? I'm not making a feature request, as such, just wondering. I'm aware that percussion samples only really need note on (and note off is just to clean things up) and most wouldn't need this, just interested what (excuse the pun) RAMifications would be.

I suspect that most, if not all, sound samplers interpret all Note Off messages the same way regardless of velocity.

Yes,I'm sure but if, for example, One could sent note off after 100 milliseconds for input 1 and say 200 milliseconds for input 2 what would be the impact on ram or processing?

So you're actually wondering about variable Note Off delay? Again, I don't think it will make any difference for percussion sounds. It will of course matter if you want to trigger for example piano sounds.

Yes
I haven't ventured into the world of vst yet, and this can be done with altering release, I know, but what I'm asking is how would this affect MD from a ram or processor point of view.

It won't use much processing power or ram.
