Please help about positional sensing snare pad!

Postby cagrisari » Wed Apr 10, 2013 10:12 pm

Hi.
I bought 56 inputs module with positional sensing board. But I have no idea how I make positional sensing snare diy pad.

how many piezo I must use. And how can I wire to the module?
I only made one zone pad. it works :)
How many inches of snare should be?

Thank you for your help.

Hi

The pad for pos sensing require a single piezo ( like a roland cone trigger ) fitted inside at the center of the pad ( not on the side )

I suggest to solder in series on the piezo a small voltage divider ( single resistor or potentiometer) to reduce the signal of piezo, because if your pad generate high peak of signals ( hot pad ) the pos sensing and the dynamic works bad.

Thank you for answer Maylord.war.

I understand you. But I'm not sure can I make it. I don't know electronics. But if you show me with basic tutorial picture, I can do it.
I think the jack must be stereo. But piezo has got two wires. Snare input is stereo. isn't it?

Sorry my english.
Thank you again.

I'm pretty sure you need 2 piezos to make PS work.

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

Positional sensing works with one piezo.

My apologies
I did a quick search and it would appear many thought the same as me, about comparing the 2 signals. The piezo has gone up in my estimations.

Hi

See the schematic and the reference of jack on this page

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2087&start=80

One piezo is for the head and the other for rim, if you don't need the rim solder only one piezo with only voltage divider. The blue square with cross are called " trimmer "

I hope this help. :)

On the inputs with the Positional sensing addon it is very unlikely that you will need voltage dividers.

Which trimmer I must use? 10-100pF ?
