I had big problems to update to the latest firmware 20130612 using MDM ver 20130612...on my ARM-based Megadrum-32 device.

Testing three different PC systems...using both the automated firmware update method and trying to doing it by hand (enable the firmware update on the MD) and then use MDM to upgrade the firmware. It failed to upgrade about 35 times with the Message "Megadrum is not responding"...standing at 0%.

Then I took and old signed jar file of MDM from 201209xx...and did the manual upgrade task...after two attempts...the upgrade process started...thank god!!

Anybody else who have seen problems to upgrade?

Best Regards

Hi, I just did this firmware upgrade, and it worked without issues. I have a brand new Megadrum-32 and used MDM 20130612 on OS X (Java 6 with mmj 0.93).

Not working for me. I've tried using the Megadrum Manager (MDM) on a PC as well as the 'dmfwupdate.exe' from the DOS command prompt. Both Time out
Specifically I have a: MCU = STM32F103RCT6 (AKA- STM32b)
From the the MDM I..
* Select USB Audio Device (for Midi In & Out)
* Clicked: 'Main | Firmware upgrade'
...Pop-Up Window 'Megadrum Firmware Upgrade'
* Click 'Open'
* Selected 'megadrumSTM32b_56_20130901.bin'
*Click: 'Start'
...Megadrum now displays 'FwSUpdatedrSTM32b / StartUpdateOnPC'
...Pop-Up windows waits approximately 9 seconds, then displays 'MegaDrum is not responding' in the progress bar.

(Note: I didn't include the 'dmfwupdate.exe' or using Midi In/Out in MDM as both yielded the same results)
Why is this not working?? I'm stuck

If the firmware upgrade in MDM fails, follow viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1252 (skipping step 6) - it always works.

Yes, I got it to work with the manual dmfwupdate.exe file. Or more specifically with Firelords windows program: http://starspirals.net/prj/mdfugui/MDFUpdateGUI.zip

I could only get this to work via USB (on one of the available USB ports). I could not get it to work via MIDI.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have bought a used 32 input megadrum, its firmware is 20121210
I guess I have to know what version I have of megadrum so that I find out how to upgrade its firmware? So how can I check with version of megadrum I have?
Thanks

If it is ARM based then it will show STM32a or STM32b on the LCD in the booloader mode but judging by the firmware version it is most likely Atmega based. To find out if it is Atmega644 or Atmega1284 you must open the case and look but you don't really need to do this since if you choose non-matching firmware, the bootloader will no load it - you can try both Atmega644 and Atmega1284 firmware version, it will not cause any harm.

Thanks for the fast response,
So I started megadrum pressing the left button and all that appeared is : FwSUpdater 16mhz Down-ok. Up-clock
This means it is Atmega based right?
