Megadrum with Cakepan system

Postby Maylord.war » Sun Dec 09, 2012 5:45 pm

Hi all

i would like to re-build my triggering sistem inside my DIY pad.

Anyone has tryed the Cakepan method with Megadrum? How it works?

I'm afraid that generate many crosstalk signals from the zone's.

Thanks a lot for your attention.

Regards

18 months wait, fair point.
It will work, worst case you may have to cool the pads. Thats the only limitation I seem to have come across with MD. Certain people have done this over at Vdrums forum.

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

I have stopped working with Md and triggers for other commitments, of course this sure it works but would like to know if the separation of the zones is good or create crosstalk, specially beetween Head/Rim...

Thanks ;)

Hi, sorry I must have missed your original post. I did a cake pan build and it works well, good zone separation and 360º rim triggering. The only thing is the only right-sized cake pan I could find locally was a little flimsy, it vibrated too much, so i had to dampen it. And the pad also becomes a little noisier, even with dampening - I'm used to it now but at the beginning it annoyed me a little. The way I did it from bottom up was cake pan -> thin strips of 5 mm foam for outer edge of CD -> CD -> foam ring (comes in those round CD-R containers) -> piezo -> sanding block cone. Rim piezo is stuck onto the pan in the middle, under the CD platform.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

I used cake pans for my build as well. Zone separation is perfect and I have no issues with crosstalk.
