Increase number of custom names using 644?

Postby mbira » Sun Oct 27, 2013 9:33 pm

Hi,
My apologies as I know I recently read the answer to this, but now I'm not seeing it. I have a 56 channel board using Atmega 644 and the eeprom. I see I'm limited to 16 names before getting an error. Am I able to expand my eeprom to get more names? Is it an eeprom or an atmega issue? I'm using the 24lc256. THanks!

Incidentally, in my case I am only using custom names and not the built in names-not sure if it's possible to delete names I will never use to free up space?

Yes, this turns off and on the Custom Names. I was wondering if there was a way to rename/delete the default names (IE: Kick, snare, etc) since I don't use those and only use custom names. A way around being limited to 16 Custom names....

Also, not sure if you are aware of this or not, but there seems to be a bug in the MDM with custom names when doing "get all", it only updates the custom name in the pad that is being displayed. The other pads do not reflect the custom name in the drop down menu. If you go to one of the drop down items and then go to a different item, then the custom name shows up. So in order to see the custom names in the dropdown for the pads, you have to open each pad and then open the pad below it.

Default pads names don't take any RAM or EEPROM space, they are programmed in ROM.

I'll look into it.
