Megadrum 56i single board setup issues

Hi dmitri,

does the Pic chip need to have any source code/firmware on it? I am still at a blank with why it is not working and as the USB connection first goes into Pic I wondered if this could perhaps be the issue. If it does where can I get code/firmware from for it?

Cheers Ignotus, how can I have missed that. Just reading it through, can I program pic with firmware by removing it from PC and putting into a pic programmer. I have someone looking at it who will do it for me, hence needing to tell him what he needs to do for me.

I'm pretty sure you can do it with a programmer - just make sure you use the right firmware for the crystal you'll use with it.

Programmer arrived today, so plugged chip in and trying to load hex load up. When I load file I get an error message saying:-
Error in HEX file - FUSE
Line: 480
:0100000024DB

Any ideas?

Did you try the pic out with the megadrum board regardless of the error? Dunno... I did mine with the ICSP cable (without removing the pic from the MD board) and always got error messages. After multiple tries it just suddenly worked, despite the errors.
Sorry, can't say what else to try, I don't know much about these things.

I am trying to program it out of board in a PIC Programmer. I have no PCs available with ports for me to program it in board using ICSP connection, so this was the only other way I could think to do it. I will keep trying and hope error might go away then. Thanks for offering some ideas though.

Dmitri I need your help please if you can take a look and offer any advice.

I can help/advise only on programming PIC using ICSP cable and serial port as I have advised many times before.
You should probably ask users/manufacture of the programmer you have about its problems.
