Why have not you built MegaDrum yet?

It is too complicated. I wish someone would build it for me.

There are better commercial offerings, taking in account price(of the offerings) and time(to build MegaDrum)?

MegaDrum is too young, I'll wait until I have more feedback from others.

My multitasking ability is a bit rusty, I usually can do only one thing at a time:) I'm in the process of creating another poll right now.

I've not built one yet because I'm scared. :) While I'm generally handy and technical I have no soldering skills. And drilling out a potentially expensive chassis adds to the risk. But I'm close to taking the plunge to build a 32 input 1U-2U rack mount unit to replace my aging and limited Alesis D4.

I'm sure you've heard this before. But in all seriousness you should consider selling completed units. The 10 input Alesis Trigger I/O sells for $150 or so. Beat that price yet with over double the inputs and in a rack-friendly or rack-optional unit and you're in business. You would likely get more users on board to expedite usage, testing, and feedback.

hi group,
im a c-5 quadriplegic so i voted for too complicated to make myself. my vote is for having one built for me. :) i can read schematics and understand electronics but my manual dexterity cant hang with soldering irons, etc.
i own an roland hpd15 and a zendrum laptop. i would gladly pay to have a custom drum made for my style of playing. i play with the edge of my hands like little karate chops. what i want basically is two identical but opposite(like j shapes) to follow my hpds outline. two units to be placed on both sides of my hpd so i have more pads i can reach while i remain belly up to my hpd. 7 triggers on each side ideally, 4 up 3 angled slightly inwards.

the left sides desired trigger placement design shown above. the right side is just a mirror version of left sides trigger placement.
ill post a vid to show my crude caveman/monkey hybrid drumming style so you know what i mean hopefully.
please let me know if a custom design such as i described is available and ill be only to happy to reciprocate.
peace all
